My First hearing Aid

I began to lose my hearing when I was a teen, in the late 90's.
I took this picture in October of 2009. This is my first hearing aid.
Why is this worth mention?
Because for 10 years or more I couldn't hear well.
I didn't know that corduroy pants made sounds when you walked.  I couldn't hear birds, or oven buzzers or fire alarms.
I got these hearing aids because of a stimulus grant sent to my area when Barack Obama took office.  A local Vocational Rehabilitation center actually sought me out and offered me help.
I was able to hear a mountain canary on a walk the following spring, and watching me react to that sound made my mother cry.
I need to hear.
Our fine progressive President made this happen for me.
I am not alone.  Millions gained, millions had small improvements in their lives like this.
I hear often, thanks to these aids, that the right thinks that the stimulus was useless.
Well, for me it wasn't. For me, it gave me the gift of hearing my child laugh clearly for the first time. Thank you, President Obama, for my blinging hearing aids. I picked gold because I wanted to wear them proudly, like jewelry. I was so happy. I will never forget that day, they day I stopped wearing corduroy pants.
